ALLIANCE STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS, INC.

Founded in 1995, Alliance Structural Engineers, Inc.’s reputation for creativity, technical expertise and innovative structural design, combined with practical application, has earned the company a highly recognized name in the “Who’s Who” of structural engineering. Our steady growth over the years has resulted from working hand-in-hand with architects, builders, developers and other consultants. Our engineering staff is licensed in multiple states and registered with the NCEES (The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying – which facilitates registration in any state within the United States). KEY PERSONNEL

Abdi Farah, P.E.

Principal, Alliance Structural Engineers, Inc. and Alliance MEP Engineers, Inc.

Abdi Farah is the Founder and Principal of Alliance Structural Engineers, Inc and Alliance MEP Engineers, Inc. He oversees the operations and management of the firms, including client relations and project development and is actively involved in each and every project. With 30+ years in the industry Abdi is well-known for building long-term professional relationships with AMEP’s clients who include architects, builders, developers and other consultants.

In 1995 Abdi founded Alliance Structural Engineers, Inc. which has an impeccable reputation for creativity, technical expertise, and innovative structural design. In 2010 he decided to expand the capabilities of Alliance Engineers with the formation of Alliance MEP Engineers, Inc. in order to provide clients exceptional service with both structural and MEP engineering.

Under Abdi’s leadership, Alliance has flourished providing the highest standard service and design delivered on time and within budget.

Abdi earned his Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Houston in 1987 and his Masters Degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1990. He is a registered professional engineer in over 20 states and can obtain licenses in other states as needed.

Tim Kowalcyk, P.E.

Principal and Senior Engineer

Tim is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has over 23 years of experience in structural engineering and project management. Tim has a wealth of knowledge with design standards and building codes in various states and jurisdictions. He excels in mixed used and multifamily design, custom homes, and renovation. Tim has also established the ability to build long-term client relationships with owners and design teams to provide cost effective solutions for building structures. His management duties include training younger engineers, quality control, and project budgets.

In 2022, Tim became a Principal of Alliance Structural Engineers, Inc. He oversees the operations and management of the firm, including client relations and project development. He’s actively involved in each project and is well-known for building long-term professional relationships with Alliance’s clients who include architects, builders, developers and other consultants.

Navneet Arora

Senior Engineer

Navneet started his career after earning Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering followed by Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering.  Over the last 20+ years Navneet has worked on variety of projects including commercial, industrial, educational institutes, military housing, and other residential buildings.  He has experience in design of concrete, wood, and steel structures. At Alliance his role consists of designing and managing the projects from initial stage to completion of the projects, quality control, and project budgets. He also manages the overseas affairs of the company.

Tahsin Omerbell, P.E.

Senior Engineer

Tahsin Omerbell has worked in the structural engineering field for nearly three decades. His vast experience includes exposure to most construction technique and/or application, with particular emphasis in the design of concrete, steel, and wood structures. Tahsin is well-known for his ability to identify structural areas that require particular attention and quickly recommend economical and practical solutions.

Mark Anstrom, P.E.

Senior Engineer

Mark Anstrom has been working in the structural engineering field since 1999. He graduated with Honors from The Pennsylvania State University in 2003 with both Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Architectural Engineering. Throughout his time in the industry, Mark worked on an array of projects including Military housing, Custom homes, Historic renovation, Structural repair, Mid-rise concrete, and Multifamily housing. Because of his experience on such a diversity of projects, he has experience in a wide range of construction types including wood, concrete, steel, and masonry. He is capable of the management of multiple simultaneous projects as well as advising and assisting fellow engineers. Mark’s role at Alliance Structural Engineers consists of management and design of numerous projects from the initial proposal through the completion of the project. His management duties include providing technical guidance to project engineers, quality control, and budget management. He is currently registered as a professional engineer in the State of Maryland and Commonwealth of Virginia.

Matthew Zhang

Senior Engineer

As a senior engineer, Matthew has wide-ranging experience in reinforced concrete frame, concrete shear wall, steel structure, elevated transfer slab, masonry systems and wood/light-gauge steel structures. He has worked on projects ranging from large condominiums to office buildings and parking garages of all sizes. Matthew’s extensive experience in construction management gives him a unique and valuable insight into the constructability of drawings. He is well-known for efficient, economical structural design.

Mehri Hamidi

Senior Engineer

Mehri began her engineering career by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering (1985) followed by professional engineering and professional earthquake engineering licenses in 1989 and 1995, respectively. Now, after more than two decades of structural engineering experience, Mehri specializes in commercial developments, residential communities and industrial plants. She has experience in various structural and foundational systems including wood, concrete, steel and masonry.
